Beginner Guitar Lesson – Getting Started With Chords
The best way to get started playing guitar is to learn a couple of simple chords and start playing easy songs. This lesson will show you three basic guitar chords, G Major, C Major, and D Major. The next lesson will show you how to put them together to play some simple songs.
Lets start with the most difficult: G Major.

Tnumbers in the chord chart above are the fingers of your fretting hand. Your index finger is 1, middle finger is 2 and so on.
Here is how it looks in tab:
|-3----| |-0----| |-0----| |-0----| |-2----| |-3----|
The first thing to do is try to get a good sound. Be sure that every note is coming out. The 5th string is usually the hardest because the 3rd finger can get in the way. If you have this problem don’t worry too much about it right now. Just do your best. As you gain strength and flexibility in your fingers it will become easier.
The second chord is C Major:

Here it is in tab:
|-0----| |-1----| |-0----| |-2----| |-3----| |------|
And here is the D Major Chord:

And the tab:
|-2----| |-3----| |-2----| |-0----| |------| |------|
So the first thing to do is just try to get your fingers in the right place and strum the chord. As I said, try to get every note out. Once you start to get a handle on the chords go on to the next lesson (I will post it very soon).
There are so many songs you can play with just these 3 chords, you will be having fun with your guitar in no time.
